Last week, a young girl named , who was held captive in Gaza, turned 4 years old. She was taken to the Palestinian territory during a violent event, along with approximately 240 others, as reported by Israeli authorities.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani informed “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan that her name was included in a list of hostages to be released by Hamas on Sunday. However, due to the sensitivity of the situation, multiple sources had informed Brennan that the release was not guaranteed.

The proposed agreement involves the release of a minimum of 50 women and children who are currently being held captive in Gaza, along with approximately 150 Palestinian women and teenagers who are imprisoned in Israel. The terms also include a temporary cease-fire that would permit aid to be delivered to Gaza and allow displaced Palestinians to return to their homes in the destroyed northern area of the region at their own discretion.

Noa Natfali shared that her family, including her parents and two older siblings, resided in the area. Despite their young ages of 6 and 10, her siblings were able to survive the attack by seeking shelter in a closet for 14 hours.
“At first, we believed that Abigail had passed away. However, we later discovered that she had managed to survive. Noa Naftali shared, “Her father bravely protected her by shielding her with his own body.” Abigail was able to crawl out from under her father and seek refuge with their neighbors. Unfortunately, they too were held captive – a mother, a 10-year-old, an 8-year-old, and a 4-year-old who attends preschool with Abigail.”
Liz Hirsh Naftali shared that her family discovered a few days after the incident that a witness had observed their neighbor and her three children, along with Abigail, being escorted out of the kibbutz during the Hamas attack. However, no further details were revealed to them.
According to Noa Naftali, during her interview on “CBS Mornings”, Abigail would reside with her relatives – aunt, uncle, and grandparents – who were already caring for her siblings, in the event of her release as a hostage. She assured that her family would give the children the necessary love and support to cope with the loss of their parents.
“Abigail is the one who managed the household,” stated Liz Hirsh Naftali, discussing the situation. “We are aware that her siblings are counting on her return as their only hope. This is a recurring sentiment, as they were present and aware of the events that took place on October 7th. Despite their young ages of 6 and 10, they comprehend the gravity of the situation. The only thing they can hope for to find closure and move forward is for Abigail to return.”
