On Friday, UAW Region 9A Director Brandon Mancilla announced the news, while demonstrators continued their fifth day of a hunger strike outside the White House. The protest was joined by notable individuals like actress Cynthia Nixon and Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush.
According to Mancilla, UAW International is urging for an immediate and permanent halt to the conflict in Israel and Palestine. This is necessary in order to focus on creating a lasting peace, promoting social justice, and fostering a sense of global solidarity.
Mancilla emphasized the significance of both promoting a global community of support and advocating for a cease-fire. He believes that these efforts are crucial in securing justice for workers, oppressed individuals, and those living in poverty worldwide.

Several other unions have also backed a halt in fighting, such as the UE, CLUW, and APWU.

Additionally, Israel’s blockade of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip is a violation of international law. This has led to a dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with thousands of innocent civilians facing preventable deaths every day,” stated the APWU in a press release, referencing statistics from the Gaza Health Ministry.
