When and where to see the Wolf Moon, first full moon of 2024
On Wednesday night, the Wolf Moon, the first full moon of the year, will be visible and reach its highest point on Thursday.
The peak of the full moon in January, according to NASA, will occur at 12:54 p.m. ET on Thursday and will appear full until Friday at midnight. The Old Farmer’s Almanac provides moonrise times for specific ZIP codes in the US.
“look up”
NASA advises that no special equipment is necessary to view the full moon, simply “look up”.
Step outside and gaze at the sky.
Look up at the sky. Using a telescope or binoculars can enhance the view of the moon and reveal more details on its surface. Consult local weather reports for more specific information on the expected clarity of the night sky.
According to NASA’s skywatching guide for the month, be prepared for the chilly weather and use the early sunsets as an opportunity to appreciate and discuss the beauty of the night sky.
The Snow Moon will reach its peak brightness on February 24th, followed by the Worm Moon on March 25th.
