Instead of just creating one album like his 2016 debut “In My Room,” where he played all the instruments and recorded all the vocals in a small room in his childhood home in North London, Jacob Collier took it a step further and recorded a four-album series. Using editing software called Logic, the six-time Grammy winner transformed his voice into an orchestral and choir sound, blending genres like R&B, pop, and jazz, and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry. The latest installment, “Djesse Vol. 4,” features artists such as Brandi Carlile, Camilo, Chris Martin, and John Legend. In an interview with correspondent Conor Knighton, Collier discusses the “emotional, chemical reaction” that arises from his unique musical process.
