Sens. Mark Warner and Marco Rubio claim that TikTok poses a threat to national security.

The threat presented by TikTok, a social media platform owned by a Chinese company, has been cautioned about by Sens. Mark Warner and Marco Rubio, the leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee. They expressed concern about its popularity among American youth.

“We may have varying approaches on how to address this, but we both believe it is a matter of national security,” stated Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, regarding himself and Rubio on the program “Face the Nation.”

The video-sharing app has been under fire by U.S. officials for years amid warnings that China’s government could gain access to its data and use it to manipulate or spy on Americans. But a renewed push targeting TikTok has gained momentum on Capitol Hill in recent days, with a House bill

This could force the company to either offload the app or face a ban from U.S. app stores.
