In the McMunn household in Pennsylvania, Jason and Marilyn own numerous televisions. According to Jason, they have approximately ten TVs. Additionally, he mentions that whenever a TV is being watched, the subtitles are always turned on.

It is not uncommon for Americans to use subtitles while watching TV. According to a recent CBS News survey, more than half of the population keeps subtitles on either occasionally (21%) or constantly (34%), with a larger percentage being younger individuals.

Subtitles were initially used to refer to translations in one’s native language. However, they are now commonly used to describe closed captions, which were created as a means of aiding those with hearing impairments.
