It is important for regions to create plans aimed at decreasing their emission of greenhouse gases.
These plans for taking action on climate also pinpoint potential for growth in clean and environmentally-friendly industries, and ensure economic support.

Out of all the states that were eligible for the program, only 45 chose to be involved. Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, South Dakota, and Wyoming all rejected the opportunity to participate.
The public now has access to view the plans.
Jennifer Macedonia, the deputy assistant administrator of EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, stated in an EPA press release that the various innovative proposals and efforts being put forward from different regions of the country highlight the commitment of states and metropolitan areas to combatting pollution, addressing climate change, and achieving their individual goals. She further noted that these climate action plans indicate significant advancements by states and local governments, working in collaboration with their communities, to map out their future course of action – promoting the growth of healthy communities and economy, and creating an environment for flourishing climate solutions.
The EPA’s next step in the project entails allocating $4.6 billion to states and communities that are taking part to support efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in accordance with their climate action plans.
The EPA’s objective is to assist communities in transitioning to a low-carbon economy by creating extensive plans and providing access to funding. President Biden has committed to reducing America’s carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, compared to 2005 levels.
