Getty news agency has tagged Kate’s picture of Queen Elizabeth II with her grandchildren as “edited before release”.
In 2023, an image of Queen Elizabeth II alongside her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taken by Catherine, Princess of Wales, in London has been flagged by Getty, an international photo agency, as having been digitally altered at the source. This decision was made following the discovery of a recent photo, released by Kensington Palace in March for British Mother’s Day, that was also found to have been digitally edited.
On April 21, 2023, Buckingham Palace shared an older photo to honor the queen’s 97th birthday, which would have been on that date. Similar to the recently revealed edited photo of Princess Kate and her kids, the 2023 image was credited to the princess herself, who has expressed her passion for photography as a hobby.
A spokesperson for Getty Images stated on Tuesday that the company is currently reviewing handout images and following its editorial guidelines by adding an editor’s note to images where the source has hinted at possible digital enhancements.

The photo was said to have been taken at the royal family‘s Balmoral Castle, in Scotland, in August 2022. A number of inconsistencies are visible upon inspection, including an apparent distortion of the queen’s plaid skirt, several parts of a sofa with misalignments, and a blurred edge along the neck of Prince Louis (at right in the image above).
While addressing on social media, it was acknowledged that the image was edited. However, Kensington Palace has declined to publicly share the original and unedited version.

According to The Sun tabloid, Kate and William, the Prince of Wales, were spotted at a farm shop near her family’s residence in Windsor, located west of London, on Saturday. Sources mentioned that she seemed to be “content, at ease, and in good health.” Shortly after, a low-quality video of the pair exiting the shop surfaced.
According to The Sun, Kate and William were seen observing their kids playing sports on Sunday, but as of Tuesday, no photos had been released of the event.
“I am hopeful that Kate’s recent appearances exuding happiness, health, and vitality will quell any assumptions,” stated Royah Nikkhah, the royal correspondent for the Sunday Times in Britain, in an interview with CBS News. “Whether she decides to attend Easter Sunday service by foot is uncertain. However, it is anticipated that she will return to carrying out royal engagements in mid-April.”
