What was the U.S. warning about in Russia?

Two weeks after issuing a warning about a potential attack on crowded events in Moscow, the U.S. experienced an assault. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow had advised Americans to avoid gatherings, such as concerts, due to the risk of a terrorist attack.

The United States shared information with Russia about a potential attack in accordance with the “Duty to Warn” obligation within the American intelligence community.

The National Security Council spokesperson, Adrienne Watson, stated that in the beginning of March, the U.S. government informed Russia about a terrorism plot in Moscow. The U.S. also gave a warning to Americans in Russia on March 7. ISIS is solely responsible for the attack and there is no involvement from Ukraine.

Last week, Putin ignored the warnings and stated that the “repeated provocative remarks made by various official Western organizations regarding potential terrorist actions in Russia…resemble direct extortion and a plan to intimidate and disrupt our society.”

U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson stated that ISIS is solely accountable for this attack and categorically denied any Ukrainian involvement.
