Chelsea Peretti on her starring role and directorial debut in “First Time Female Director”

Chelsea Peretti, most recognized for her part in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” has assumed the challenging task of acting, writing, and directing in her latest project, “First Time Female Director,” which was released on Friday through Roku.

The story centers on a female protagonist who is suddenly tasked with directing her own theatrical production, mirroring Peretti’s personal experience with delving into the world of directing.

Initially, when Peretti joined the project, she doubted her capacity to balance the tasks of writing, acting, and directing.

Looking back on her pivotal part as Gina Linetti on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Peretti was grateful for the connection fans felt towards her character.

Peretti stated that many teenage girls have expressed admiration for Gina’s confidence and have desired to emulate it. However, Peretti advises them not to reveal or “pull back the mask” on their true selves.

The program also brought her back together with her childhood pal Andy Samberg, creating a full circle experience in her professional journey.

Peretti recalled a production of “Annie” where he perceived himself as Daddy Warbucks while feeling like orphan No.7. He noted that some things remain constant.

Peretti called Andre Braugher

Her colleague on the show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” who passed away from lung cancer in the previous year was described as both a remarkable individual and a talented performer.

Peretti expressed her admiration for Andre, stating that he holds a special place in her heart.

While considering future ventures, like taking on more directing roles and creating her own television show, Peretti continues to be both her toughest critic and greatest supporter.

“I either feel like ‘This is terrible’ or ‘I’m a god,'” Peretti stated. “So with my film, I’m striving to feel proud of what I have accomplished.”
