Dolly Parton commends Beyoncé for “Texas Hold ‘Em” hitting the top spot on the Billboard hot country songs chart.

The rural radio station has started playing songs by Beyoncé after receiving criticism.

The initial decision of the country music station is to not include Beyoncé’s new songs in their playlist.

Dolly Parton, a renowned artist in the country music scene, is commending Beyoncé for her recent hit “Texas Hold ‘Em” claiming the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The country songs chart on Billboard’s hot list. 

On Thursday, Parton expressed her admiration for Beyoncé on social media, stating that she is a “huge admirer” and thrilled that she has released a country album.

“Congratulations on your recent success with your Billboard Hot Country chart-topping single!” she exclaimed. “I am eagerly anticipating the release of your full album.”

The message comes as Texas Hold ‘Em debuted as No. 1, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to score a No. 1 hit in the history of Billboard’s hot country songs list. The milestone marked a cultural shift for country music, a genre often seen as exclusive and that for decades has had a fraught relationship with artists of color. 

“Dropped during the Super Bowl was a new album containing a track called “16 Carriages.” The album has a country sound and is set to be released on March 29.”

The release of her song caused an immediate stir when it was played on KYKC-FM, a country radio station in Oklahoma.
Initially, the artist’s music was rejected from being played.

The manager of the station informed CBS News that he was unaware of Beyoncé’s release of two country songs. He also acknowledged that he had included “Texas Hold ‘Em” in the station’s playlist due to backlash from Beyoncé’s devoted fanbase, also known as the Beyhive.
