Marlon Wayans, a comedian, openly shows his love and acceptance for his transgender son.
During an interview on the radio show “The Breakfast Club” on Saturday, Marlon Wayans, an actor and comedian, discussed his experience as a parent to his 23-year-old child who is transgender.
The actor revealed that his oldest child, who now goes by the name Kai, has transitioned from a daughter to a son. Wayans also mentioned that he is currently developing a new stand-up comedy special, which may be titled “Skittles” or “Rainbow Child,” and will focus on Kai’s transition and personal journey.
He stated, “It’s not about their transition, but my own as a parent – from being ignorant and in denial to fully embracing and unconditionally loving them.” He also mentioned, “I believe there are many other parents who could benefit from this message.”
Wayans acknowledged that the initial steps of Kai’s transformation were difficult for him. He mentioned that although he is still adjusting to using the correct pronouns, he understands the importance of honoring Kai’s desires. He even playfully mentioned how Kai is starting to resemble their sibling.
