A fresh motion picture titled “Gruff” presents remarkable visuals crafted by filmmaker Julian Curi. However, it is not created through computer animation. Curi hand-drew all of his characters and backgrounds on paper, manipulated them like puppets in front of the camera, and used computers to remove the wires, resulting in a distinctively intimate atmosphere for the film. The story revolves around the relationship between the main character, Hazel, and her distant father, Abuelo, inspired by Curi’s own father. Curi speaks with correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti about the process of making his exceptional film, which was possible through the support of crowdfunding on GoFundMe.
