A small business owner on a remote island in Scotland comes up with a philanthropic idea to make up for a mistake made with chocolate Easter eggs.

“Do not worry sir, this is just a routine order,” said Dan ap Dafydd, a shopkeeper on the Orkney Islands in Scotland. He had decided to plan ahead for the Easter holiday season and ordered chocolate eggs six months in advance. However, when the order finally arrived, he encountered a serious problem.

“I initially expected to receive 80 individual eggs, but it turned out I actually ordered 80 cases, which equates to 720 eggs,” stated ap Dafydd, who owns the Sinclair General Stores, in an interview with CBS News. “I definitely felt a bit uneasy and possibly even a bit embarrassed about the mistake.”

He was in a frenzy trying to fix his mistake, but the egg supplier had a no-returns rule. Thus, Dan was left with 720 eggs and an embarrassment, since there were only around 500 residents on his island.
