Authorities have reported that missing British teenager Alex Batty has been located in France after a period of 6 years.
Officials suspect that Alex Batty, a British teenager who disappeared during a trip to Spain six years ago, has been located in France.
According to the BBC, Batty, who is now 17 years old, was discovered in Revel, France near Toulouse by a worried driver. The driver noticed the teenager looking disoriented and weary on the side of a road and brought him to a nearby police station, as reported by BFMTV.
According to the BBC, the adolescent informed the driver that he had been residing in a non-traditional community with his mother, but desired to lead his own life. As a result, he made the decision to leave. Upon being brought to the prosecutor’s office, his relatives were able to confirm his identity.
According to reports from British media, Batty and his mother resided in a communal living arrangement in Morocco in 2014, as they were pursuing an unconventional way of life. The mother believed this may have contributed to the boy’s disappearance and explained that they did not want him to attend school.
According to the BBC, the driver who gave a ride to the teenager who had been reported missing stated that Batty informed him that he had been walking for several days and had messaged his grandmother on Facebook expressing his desire to visit her. He also mentioned that he had been residing in France for two years.
The authorities have reported that Melanie Batty, the mother of the teenager, and David Batty, his grandfather, are being sought in relation to his disappearance and that their location is currently unknown.
