The mysterious artist known as Banksy has revealed a freshly-painted piece of street art in London that is being interpreted as an urging for the protection of the planet’s environment.

Banksy painted a person restoring the tree’s limbs by spray painting them green behind the tree. The artist then posted pictures of the artwork on their Instagram, asserting ownership.

James Peak, the creator of “The Banksy Story” on BBC Radio 4, stated in an interview with BBC News that Banksy used the same type of paint that the local council uses for signs in the area. According to the Islington Council, the mural in front of a four-story residential building was inspired by a cherry tree that is about 50 years old and is currently in poor condition. The council clarified that they regularly trim the tree to ensure safety and to extend its lifespan.
He emphasized, “The statement is evident. Nature is in a state of difficulty and it is our responsibility to aid in its regeneration.”

Pura Lawler informed the Associated Press that while en route to the gym, she stumbled upon the mural and interpreted it as a call to action against deforestation.
She noted that the tree appears quite forlorn as it lacks both branches and foliage.
Others also noticed this message. According to former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, the newest artwork imposes a specific perspective on those who see it.

Environmentalism has been prevalent in the location where Banksy unveiled their newest piece. In 2019, the Islington Council made a commitment to combat the effects of climate change by declaring a climate emergency and aiming to achieve a net zero carbon emission status by 2030. The council is taking measures to increase energy efficiency and reduce transportation emissions, as well as addressing the decline of biodiversity and assisting residents in adapting to a changing climate.
The council has reported planting over 900 trees and is placing an emphasis on community food production, waste reduction, and promoting a circular economy. This approach involves prolonging the use of goods before recycling them, instead of letting them go to waste. As an example, the council has established a “library of things” where residents can rent tools and other items instead of having to buy their own.
