Senator Bob Menendez, a Democratic representative from New Jersey, is being accused of receiving expensive gifts in return for making favorable remarks about Qatar. These allegations were revealed in a second updated indictment released on Tuesday.

The accusation against Menendez in the 2015 indictment remains the same, but the new indictment presents additional evidence to strengthen the charges.first superseding indictment

Starting in October and going through the rest of the yearoriginal indictment in September. 

Menendez and his spouse, Nadine, are accused of four charges connected to an alleged corrupt plot in which they purportedly received extravagant presents in return for utilizing his authority and sway as a U.S. senator to aid three entrepreneurs and the Egyptian government. They have refuted any wrongdoing.
