Investigators in the House are closely examining a past federal investigation into Representative Matt Gaetz regarding allegations of sex trafficking.

According to several sources familiar with recent events, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, a Republican, has been actively seeking information from witnesses and the Department of Justice. One of the sources reported that at least one witness has been interviewed.
Gaetz, who is being investigated by the House committee over allegations that include sexual misconduct, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. The Justice Department last year declined to charge
The investigation into Gaetz’s involvement in sex trafficking.
According to one source, a person was reached out to by congressional investigators a fortnight ago, asking for documents related to the terminated federal inquiry on the congressman’s potential violation of sex trafficking laws. This information was shared on Wednesday.
