Arkansas

In Arkansas, it is not allowed to register to vote on the same day as the election. The registration deadline is 30 days prior to the election.

California

In California, individuals who were unable to register by mail or online prior to the 15-day deadline can still register on the same day as the election. You will need your driver’s license, California ID, or last four digits of your Social Security number to register. You can locate your designated polling location through this link.

Colorado

The registration deadline for Colorado was eight days prior to the primary election for mailing and online registration, however, in-person registration is permitted on Election Day. Valid identification is required for all voters. Please verify your assigned polling place.

Maine

In Maine, individuals are able to register to vote on the same day as the election if they were unable to submit an application by February 13th. It is necessary to provide a valid form of identification. To find your designated polling location, please refer to this website.

Massachusetts 

The last day to register for voting in Massachusetts was 10 days prior to the primary.

Minnesota

In Minnesota, voters must submit their applications for online or mail voting at least 21 days prior to an election. However, the state does offer same-day voter registration if this deadline is missed. When registering on Election Day, voters must provide proof of their current address before being able to vote. North Carolina

Same-day voter registration is allowed in North Carolina during the early voting period, which concluded on March 2. However, most voters cannot register on Election Day. The only exceptions are individuals who recently became naturalized U.S. citizens or felons who regained their voting rights after the regular registration deadline on February 9. Oklahoma

In Oklahoma, individuals must register to vote no later than 25 days prior to Election Day. The deadline to vote in the primary was February 9th.

Tennessee

Tennessee is another state that does not allow same-day voter registration. The deadline to register to vote in the primary was Feb. 5. 

Texas

The final date for voter registration for the Texas primary was February 5th. The state does not permit voter registration on the same day.

Utah

If you are a resident of Utah and missed the February 23rd deadline to submit your voter registration online or by mail, you can still register on the day of the election. Vermont 

Voters in Vermont can register to vote online or in-person on any day, including Election Day. Applications sent by mail must be received no later than Election Day. Bring an acceptable form of ID. Find your polling place here.  

Virginia 

The last day to sign up for voting in Virginia was 22 days prior to the primary. Any voters who register during this time will submit a provisional vote, which will only be counted upon approval of their registration. American Samoa 

Voters in American Samoa are not able to register on the same day as the election. In order to participate in the caucuses, registration must be completed at least 29 days prior to the election. The Republican caucuses will take place on March 8.
