Mayor Eric Adams is facing accusations of sexual assault from a woman who alleges the incident took place in 1993 during their employment with the City of New York.

According to legal documents obtained by CBS New York, the individual who made the accusation has filed a lawsuit against Adams, a former member of the NYPD, as well as the NYPD’s Transit Bureau and Guardian Association. The lawsuit is requesting a minimum of $5 million in damages.

The mayor denied the accusation in an interview with Dave Carlin of CBS New York at the Bowery Mission, stating that it did not occur.

The Adult Survivors Act permits individuals to pursue civil legal action after the expiration of the statute of limitations, with a deadline of midnight.
