On Tuesday evening, it was announced that the politician’s trusted confidant and chief strategist, Leonid Volkov, was assaulted in the vicinity of his residence in the capital city of Lithuania.
Kira Yarmysh, the spokesperson for Navalny, posted on social media that someone broke a window of Volkov’s car and sprayed tear gas into his eyes before hitting him with a hammer. Yarmysh stated that the police and an ambulance were en route.
A Russian national was attacked near his residence in the city of Vilnius at approximately 10 p.m. according to Ramunas Matonis, spokesperson for the Lithuanian police, as reported by Agence France-Presse.

Their objective was to communicate with a large number of Russian citizens through telephone or online means, in an effort to sway them against Putin in anticipation of the presidential election on March 15-17.
Shortly before his passing, Navalny had encouraged his followers to gather at the polling stations at midday on the last day of voting to show their dissatisfaction with the Kremlin. His associates have been actively advocating for this approach, known as “Noon Against Putin,” in recent weeks.
