Twitter has suspended the campaign account of Minnesota Representative Dean Phillips just hours after it was launched at 00:46.
The campaign account for Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, who recently announced his 2024 presidential campaign to run against President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket, has been suspended by X, previously known as Twitter.
Following Phillips’ upload of campaign videos on all social media platforms, the social media platform, now owned by Elon Musk for exactly one year as of today, has suspended the account @Dean24Official. The only message displayed is “X suspends accounts that violate X rules.”
Phillips is projected to sign the necessary paperwork in New Hampshire within the next few hours in order to be listed on the state’s primary ballot before the deadline. Phillips’ campaign continues to post on their Facebook and Instagram pages, but it is unknown at this time what guidelines the accounts may have potentially breached.
Both of his social media accounts, his personal and official one as a U.S. Representative, are still active on Friday morning. The first account has recently posted a new update.
When contacted by WCCO in Minneapolis, a representative from the Phillips campaign stated, “I suggest checking his personal Twitter for updates at this time.”

On Thursday evening, Phillips utilized his Twitter account to release a video announcing his campaign. In the tweet, he expressed his enthusiasm for running for President in 2024 and emphasized the need for unity to strengthen our nation. He also stated that it’s time to mend America.
The platform boasts a set of X rules, categorized under safety, privacy, authenticity, and third-party advertising, for video content.
At the same time, Musk’s platform has been at the center of a number of controversies rooted in authenticity. The European Commission earlier this month made a formal, legally binding request for information from Elon Musk’s social media platform X over its handling of hate speech, misinformation and violent terrorist content related to the Israel-Hamas war
In a separate case, a man from California alleges that he was targeted with harassment after Elon Musk shared posts on X that falsely accused him of being involved in a clash with far-right demonstrators. The individual has filed a lawsuit against the billionaire for defamation.

I met with Robert Costa, CBS News’ top reporter for elections and campaigns.
During a private conversation with “CBS Mornings,” he spoke about his plans to run against Biden in 2024.
Phillips praised President Biden’s exceptional performance for our nation and emphasized that the upcoming election is focused on shaping our future, rather than dwelling on the past.

Learn more about Rep. Dean Phillips, the Minnesota Democrat who will be running against Joe Biden in the 2024 election.
According to Phillips, he has analyzed polling information and is concerned about the possibility of Donald Trump defeating Biden in a potential 2024 election rematch. Phillips, who is 80 years old, believes it is time for Biden to make way for a new generation of Democratic leaders.
Phillips stated that she refuses to remain inactive and silent in response to statistics that clearly indicate an upcoming crisis in November.
Phillips has been considering a primary challenge against Biden for several months, but his decision was accelerated when he resigned from his position as co-chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Caucus (DPCC) at the beginning of the month.
“I have different beliefs about the 2024 presidential election compared to the majority of my party members. Therefore, I have chosen to resign from my elected leadership position in order to avoid causing any unnecessary disruptions during this crucial period for our nation,” he stated.
Beforehand, the congressman informed WCCO in August that he had been.
Advocating for a different option than Biden for the Democratic Party in the upcoming presidential race.
In August, he advocated for implementing term limits for Congressional members. This was in response to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s second term.froze during a news conference during summer.
This would not mark the first time Phillips has challenged the party’s status quo. When he first was elected to U.S. Congress, Phillips spoke of the need for a “new generation” of Democrats to replace then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and was frustrated when no one emerged. He would later go on to praise Pelosi as “one of the most successful speakers of all time.”
Many experts are describing Phillips’ attempt as a slim chance at best. Nevertheless, past New Hampshire primary challenges have been known to harm sitting presidents.
