The UAW president, Shawn Fain, clarifies the reasons for the union’s support of Biden instead of Trump.
2007
Shawn Fain, President of the United Auto Workers, revealed the organization’s 2007 plans in Washington.
I endorse President Biden for another term in office.
Last week, I discussed the reason for the union’s endorsement of Mr. Biden, highlighting a distinct contrast between him and previous President Donald Trump.
Fain stated on “Face the Nation” on Sunday that President Biden has consistently supported and stood by American workers, which he has demonstrated during his presidency. This was exemplified when he became the first sitting president in U.S. history to join striking workers on a picket line.
On Wednesday, the UAW officially endorsed Mr. Biden, gaining the support of the 400,000-member union. This was a significant milestone in his campaign for reelection and his efforts to gain the support of working class citizens. He highlighted Mr. Biden’s backing during the UAW strike in the previous fall as proof of his focus on important issues.
