A large portion of the cathedral is still enclosed by scaffolding, which may require weeks or even months to be taken down. According to cathedral staff, the spire alone was safeguarded by approximately 70,000 individual pieces of scaffolding, weighing a staggering 600 tons.

A new symbolic representation of strength and rebirth, a golden rooster transformed into a phoenix with fiery plumes, was placed on the spire in December, symbolizing the cathedral’s recovery from destruction.

Additional actions to restore the cathedral include installing a fire-deterrent misting system beneath the roof and replicating the original cross.
