During the evidentiary hearing presided by Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee on Thursday, Willis testified for approximately two hours. She strongly refuted allegations made by lawyers representing Trump and other defendants, who claimed that she had an inappropriate connection with Wade, whom she had hired to assist with the case, and that she had gained financially from it.
A lawyer for Michael Roman, a former Trump campaign official and co-defendant, first raised the allegations
Last month, there was discussion about Willis and Wade and now efforts are being made to remove the prosecutors involved in the case and dismiss the indictment. Trump and his supporters are being accused of planning a scheme to invalidate the outcome of the 2020 Georgia presidential election. They have entered a plea of not guilty for all accusations.
In a recent legal document, it was disclosed that they started a romantic relationship in the beginning of 2022, several months after Willis chose Wade to serve as a special prosecutor for the complex case involving Trump and racketeering.
According to Willis, you have been excessively involved in individuals’ private lives. He said this to lawyer Ashleigh Merchant, who is defending Roman. “You seem confused. You believe I am the one being tried. However, it is these individuals who are being tried for attempting to manipulate the 2020 election. I am not on trial, regardless of your attempts to make it so. I object to you obtaining any of my personal records.”
In court documents, she found Merchant’s implications about the beginning of her relationship with Wade to be extremely offensive. She also stated that her beliefs were in opposition to the principles of democracy.
Furthermore, along with receiving a statement from Willis, the prosecutors in her department intend to summon at least three individuals to provide testimony on Friday, including her father.
