Two crew members on a Holland America cruise ship have passed away during an “incident.”
According to the cruise line, there was an incident in the engineering area of a Holland America cruise ship that resulted in the death of two crew members.
Holland America announced that on Friday, during the time when the Nieuw Amsterdam was docked at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, several crew members, who have not been identified, passed away.
The cruise line reported that they have informed the authorities and the reason for the incident is currently under investigation.
Between the years 2000 and 2019, there were a total of 623 reported fatalities on cruise ships. Of these deaths, 89% were passengers and 11% were crew members.
