On Tuesday evening, SAG-AFTRA reached an agreement with Hollywood studios following a strike that lasted almost four months and significantly impacted the industry. However, only a minority of members, less than 40%, took part in the vote.

In July, the major entertainment union initiated a strike that lasted for 118 days following the expiration of their previous agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. A tentative agreement was reached in November, ultimately ending the longest strike in the union’s history.was reached last month. 

SAG-AFTRA reported that 78.33% of the members who voted supported the contract ratification, with 38.15% of members participating in the vote. 21.67% of members voted against it.

In September, a new agreement was reached between the AMPTP and the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild, marking the first instance of both unions being on strike at the same time since 1960.

Paramount Global is a member of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and also owns CBS News. Furthermore, a number of CBS News anchors and reporters are members of SAG-AFTRA. However, they are covered by a separate contract and were not involved in the current negotiations.
