Governor Hochul has declared a date for a special election to fill the vacancy left by George Santos.

The special election to replace George Santos has been scheduled by Gov. Kathy Hochul for a specific date in New York.

The event is scheduled for February 13, 2024.

Voters in Long Island and Queens will have the opportunity to elect a different representative for District 3.

The House Ethics Committee published a report stating that there was “significant evidence” that Santos broke federal laws and participated in a “complicated network” of unlawful actions related to his financial matters.

The report states that Santos purportedly utilized funds from his campaign to cover expenses for Botox, trips to Atlantic City, purchases from OnlyFans and Hermès, and other items.

Shortly after the report was published, the Republican chairman of the House Ethics Committee introduced a resolution to remove Santos from office.

On Friday, the House approved the expulsion of him with a vote of 311 to 114.

Santos faced a third vote for expulsion, with the first occurring following his indictment by the Justice Department in May and the second following a superseding indictment in October.
