The former dictator of Guinea, along with two accomplices, has fled from prison following an attack by armed individuals on the capital city, according to the justice minister.
Early Saturday, armed individuals forcefully entered the primary prison in Guinea’s capital and released ex-dictator Moussa “Dadis” Camara, according to the country’s justice minister. This led to the decision to shut down the borders of the West African nation.
Justice Minister Charles Alphonse Wright made a statement a few hours following a burst of intense gunfire in Conakry’s Kaloum district.
According to Wright, Claude Pivi and Blaise Goumou were among the individuals who managed to flee.
Wright assured local Radio Fim FM that they will locate the responsible parties and hold them accountable.
In 2008, Camara seized control through a coup and was subsequently arrested for his involvement in a stadium massacre during his short rule. After surviving an assassination attempt, he spent years in exile before finally returning to his home country in late 2021.
