On Monday evening, there was a seizure. The FBI approached the mayor while he was on the street and requested his security to step away. They then took two iPhones and an iPad. The devices were given back a few days afterwards.
Attorney Boyd Johnson, representing Adams’ campaign, released a statement that alludes to a possible involvement of a close associate in questionable conduct.
Following the federal investigation, it was uncovered that an individual had engaged in inappropriate actions. In the interest of being open and working together, this conduct was promptly and preemptively disclosed to investigators. The Mayor has consistently and will continue to assist with the investigation. On Monday evening, the FBI approached the mayor after an event. The Mayor promptly complied with the FBI’s inquiry and surrendered electronic devices to them. The mayor has not been charged with any wrongdoing and is still cooperating with the investigation.

At his weekly press conference on Wednesday, Adams was primarily asked about the impressive 10-1 record of the Chiefs.

“He stated that thus far, no one had accused the mayor of being involved in any possible fundraising from foreign sources, specifically Turkish sources. However, his devices are now being taken as evidence.”

The mayor released a statement stating that, as a previous member of law enforcement, he anticipates all his staff to abide by the law and fully cooperate with any investigations. He assures that he will also comply with this expectation, as he has nothing to conceal.
