Adele Zerilli Springsteen, who served as a legal secretary, inspired her son Bruce and others through their shared love of music and dance, has passed away at the age of 98.

Bruce Springsteen revealed on Instagram that his mother passed away on Wednesday. He uploaded a video of them dancing to the classic song “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller and wrote, “Adele Springsteen — May 4, 1925-January 31, 2024,” as the caption. He also shared lines from his own song “The Wish,” which pays tribute to his mother.

The post states, “I recall waking up to the sound of your alarm clock in the morning. I would lay in bed and hear you getting ready for work, the clatter of your makeup case on the sink.”

On Thursday, Steven Van Zandt posted on Twitter that Adele Springsteen is the “matriarch” of their family and always provides positive energy for them. She is unique and will continue to support them, even by dancing in the audience.

In 1998, Adele Springsteen’s spouse, Douglas (who was also the inspiration for some of Bruce’s songs), passed away.

The surviving members consist of their daughters, Pamela Springsteen and Virginia Shave, as well as a large and loving extended family.

Undoubtedly, they hold the same feelings that Bruce conveyed on his visit to Ellis Island.

He expressed his gratitude, saying “Thank you, Mom.” He also shared his love, stating, “I love you very much.”
