Bryant Gumbel’s self-expectations and demands

Bryant Gumbel, an acclaimed journalist, previously co-hosted the “Today” show with Jane Pauley for seven years. In a forthcoming interview for “CBS News Sunday Morning,” airing on CBS and available on Paramount+, Gumbel and Pauley will discuss their enduring friendship, his career, and his plans for the future.

Gumbel and Pauley discussed the conclusion of his HBO show, “Real Sports,” which will end next week after 29 years and 320 episodes. He was aware that his contract was ending, and upon questioning whether he could continue for another three years, he realized the answer was no.

Gumbel expressed acceptance, saying “I am content with that. I feel at ease with it.”

The CBS News app will begin streaming at 12 p.m. ET on Paramount+, and can also be accessed through cbs.com and cbsnews.com.
