Daryl Hall has obtained a restraining order against his former music partner, John Oates, as they continue to battle in court.
Daryl Hall has taken legal action to keep his former musical partner, John Oates, at a distance. The two were known as the pop rock duo Hall & Oates and released a total of 18 studio albums from 1972 to 2006.
On November 16, Hall submitted a request for a temporary restraining order to the Nashville Chancery Court. On November 20, Oates, his wife Aimee J. Oates, and business manager Richard Flynn, who are all co-trustees of his trust, were served with the request.
The reason for the restraining order is not specified, but it is categorized as a Contract/Debt case on the Nashville Chancery Court website. CBS News has contacted Hall’s lawyer and Flynn for more details and is waiting for a reply.
In a 2013 interview, Dan Rather and Hall discussed how they first met. They crossed paths at a performance where a brawl occurred. Afterwards, they ended up in the same elevator and started talking. This chance encounter sparked a friendship and partnership in music.

Hall expressed surprise at the thought of working with John and sitting next to him after all these years. It never crossed her mind.
