In 1987, André Heller successfully persuaded prominent artists of the late 20th century (such as Keith Haring, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, and Kenny Scharf) to create an innovative theme park in Hamburg, Germany, called Luna Luna. However, the intended world tour of this spectacle was halted due to legal disputes, and the park’s remains were stored in shipping containers in the Texas desert. Now, after 40 years, thanks to a financial investment from rapper and art enthusiast Drake, the artistic remnants of Luna Luna are once again accessible to the public in Los Angeles. Correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti speaks with Michael Goldberg, who played a role in discovering these long-forgotten treasures, and Joel Searles, whose team is working to restore each masterpiece.
