“Schitts Creek” star Emily Hampshire apologizes for dressing up as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard for Halloween.

Emily Hampshire, known for her role in “Schitts Creek,” has issued an apology after facing backlash for her Halloween costume with a friend, where they dressed up as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

“I would like to acknowledge one of the most careless, insensitive, and uninformed actions I have ever taken,” Hampshire stated on Instagram. “I made the foolish decision to dress up as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard for Halloween.”

Hampshire and her friend chose to dress up as Depp and Heard for Halloween, with Hampshire sporting slicked back hair to resemble Depp’s signature look. They also incorporated props that alluded to the graphic testimony from the Depp-Heard trial. However, the photos of their costumes have since been removed.

Both Depp and Heard filed lawsuits against each other for making defamatory statements. In 2018, Depp sued Heard for an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post where she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Heard also sued Depp after one of his lawyers claimed her abuse allegations were false.
