Andre Braugher, a highly praised actor, passed away from lung cancer, as confirmed by his publicist in a statement to CBS News on Thursday.
Braugher’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, had previously said that the actor died on Monday, Dec. 11 “after a brief illness.” His death was announced Tuesday night.
Allen did not disclose any additional information regarding Braugher’s passing or health condition.

Marc Evan Jackson, the actor who portrayed Braugher’s spouse in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” posted a picture of the two embracing on the set with the caption “O Captain. My Captain.”
