A recently unearthed tomb in China has been found to be well-preserved and dates back over 2,000 years. According to a statement released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on Wednesday, over 600 relics were found at the site.

The Chongqing Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology announced that the tomb, located in Wulong District, Chongqing, can be dated back to the early Western Han Dynasty. This marks the first instance of such a large number of ancient relics being discovered in the region.

Huang Wei, the leader of the archaeological project, reported the discovery of multiple tombs dating back to the Han Dynasty and the Six Dynasties era, spanning from 206 B.C. to 589 A.D.

Wei states that the most significant find was the intact burial site known as “Guankou Western Han Dynasty Tomb No. 1”. The institute reports that experts determined the tomb to have been constructed in 193 B.C., during the second year of Emperor Hui’s reign in the Han Dynasty, providing a historical context.
