A team of specialists is investigating a potential case of bird flu after approximately 700 swans were discovered deceased at a nature reserve.
Environmental officials reported on Tuesday that a large number of swans have perished at a nature reserve in Kazakhstan, located near the Caspian Sea. The reserve, which is centered around Lake Karakol, serves as a habitat for numerous rare and at-risk animals.
The Kazakh ecology ministry informed AFP that a sum of 675 deceased swans were found on Lake Karakol between 21 December and 8 January.
According to the ministry, the birds could have perished due to avian flu. They also reported that experts were sent to the location for further examination.
