According to Senator Jack Reed, the recent military actions taken by President Biden against Hamas can be considered a positive initial move resulting from his continuous diplomatic efforts. However, this should not result in an immediate ceasefire.

Reed stated on this week’s episode of “The Takeout” on CBS News that the president’s discreet negotiations with the Israeli government have led to tangible advancements, which he considers to be a significant achievement.

This is more than just a humanitarian mission; it is also a strategic operation. The goal is to separate the Palestinian people from Hamas and provide them with safety and protection. Additionally, this sends a message to the Palestinians that the Israeli forces are not aiming to harm them, but rather to eliminate Hamas. This was a crucial move and I believe it would not have been possible without the president’s subtle guidance.

Senator Joe Manchin has announced that he will not be running for re-election in West Virginia.

Reed stated that the individual has been tremendously beneficial in addressing various matters and has made difficult decisions. Additionally, he has made efforts to foster cooperation across party lines, which is becoming increasingly rare in this environment.

Regarding Manchin’s intentions to tour the nation, Reed does not view it as a precursor to a presidential campaign or an attempt to sabotage Biden’s reelection. “I would advise him to handle it with integrity,” Reed stated. “I believe Joe’s goal is not to disrupt the election, but rather to address these significant matters. If he gains momentum, that may lead to a different scenario.”
