Mike Johnson, a Republican representative from Louisiana, was chosen as the House speaker on Wednesday, resolving a stalemate that began when Kevin McCarthy was removed from the position almost three weeks ago. At 51 years old, Johnson, a former conservative radio personality, received unanimous support from the GOP on the initial vote and will be the least experienced speaker in many years.
