The Pentagon announced that Yemen was targeted on Tuesday night in another attack, part of a continued series of attacks that have been occurring for several months. No harm or damage has been reported.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. local time, U.S. Central Command reported that eighteen drones, two anti-ship cruise missiles, and one anti-ship ballistic missile were launched by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, but were effectively intercepted and destroyed.

The joint effort of fighter jets from USS Dwight Eisenhower and missile destroyers USS Gravely, USS Laboon, and USS Mason, as well as the UK’s Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond, successfully took down the drones and missiles.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. In retaliation, the United States military.has been pushing for an international task force to protect commercial vessels traversing the Red Sea.  

The Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that Tuesday’s strikes were the 26th instance of Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping routes since November 19.

On December 30th, CENTCOM announced that the USS Gravely successfully intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis. The ship was in the midst of aiding a container vessel, the Maersk Hangzhou, that had been hit by a Houthi missile.

There were no casualties in the missile attack. However, in the early hours of December 31, four Houthi boats attempted to board the Hangzhou, a Danish-owned ship flying under a Singaporean flag.

According to CENTCOM, American military personnel returned fire, causing three out of the four Houthi boats to sink and resulting in the deaths of their crews.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, refuted any claims that Iran was responsible for the incident.

The USS Thomas Hudner, a guided-missile destroyer, reportedly took down a drone that was believed to be targeting the ship, according to U.S. officials.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed concern about the escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict and criticized the United States for exacerbating the situation by backing Israel. He also emphasized Yemen’s autonomy in making decisions and taking action.
