A former American diplomat confessed to acting as a spy for Cuba for many years. He informed a judge on Thursday that he plans to plead guilty to federal charges related to his actions on behalf of the communist government.

In December, the ex-United States ambassador to Bolivia was charged with accusations of spying for Cuba’s intelligence agency for a period of forty years.

According to the Associated Press, during a court session in Miami on Thursday, Rocha admitted to conspiring to act as an agent of a foreign government and agreed to plead guilty to two charges. In exchange for his confession, prosecutors dropped more than 12 other charges.
