According to a news release from the agency, a dust devil measuring over a mile in height was observed moving across a ridge on Mars.

NASA reported that on August 30, 2023, while near the Jezero Crater on Mars, the rover observed a dust devil approximately 2.5 miles away. The crater was the initial landing spot for the rover and is thought to have been a lake in the past, potentially making it capable of sustaining microbial life.

The rover’s camera captured the lower part of the dust devil in 21 photos, with a four second interval between each photo. The photos were then enhanced by scientists to create a video effect. NASA

The rover successfully recorded a video of the dust devil using its camera. The camera captured 21 photos, each spaced four seconds apart, of the lower part of the dust devil. These photos were then accelerated to create a video-like effect by the scientists.
