One hundred leaders within the Jewish community criticize Elon Musk for his antisemitic remarks on X, previously known as Twitter. They express their shock and dismay over his words.

A letter was published by a group of 100 Jewish leaders, which included well-known rabbis and scholars, expressing their disapproval of X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, and its owner Elon Musk for allowing a “new phase of anti-Semitic conversation.”

The website is expected to launch in October of 2022. Musk has faced backlash for his actions.

Some well-known neo-Nazi individuals have been associated with the platform, and there have been efforts to decrease content regulation on the site. Musk, who has expressed a desire to support “freedom of speech,” has also suggested the concept of

Musk has also posted several times that were deemed antisemitic by the group, and they pointed out that he has either liked or given a platform to other similar comments.

The Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit group dedicated to combatting antisemitism and extremism, received a legal threat from X for their condemnation of hate speech on the platform. According to the letter, Musk accused the ADL of being a substitute for promoting anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jewish influence and blamed them for his company’s decrease in advertising revenue.

“We are deeply disturbed by the rise of antisemitic discourse on one of the largest social media networks in America, and we hold its owner, Elon Musk, responsible for facilitating and enabling it. X (formerly Twitter), under Musk’s leadership, has become a platform for dangerous antisemitic rhetoric to spread with alarming speed. It has elevated fringe voices, promoted harmful conspiracy theories that put the Jewish community at risk, welcomed back neo-Nazis and other antisemites, and abandoned effective content moderation that once kept Holocaust denial and hate speech in check.”

According to the letter, Musk has been accused of promoting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, resulting in an increase in anti-Semitic discourse on X. The letter also mentioned that Musk’s recent remarks may have contributed to this escalation.

At 01:59, Elon Musk speaks about the controversies on Twitter.

The organization responsible for the letter expressed to CBS News that Musk’s anti-Semitism poses a greater threat than many are aware of, and they are determined to bring attention to its pressing nature.

In 2022, that

A team of scholars from Montclair State University discovered that.

Within 12 hours of Musk assuming control of the site, there was a significant and noticeable increase in offensive and aggressive language targeting individuals based on their race, religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Data collected by the Center for Countering Digital Hate in December 2022 revealed a three-fold increase in derogatory language towards Black people compared to the 2022 average, and a 58% increase in slurs against members of the LGBTQ+ community.

To summarize, X is now a place where antisemitism thrives and poses a significant threat to the Jewish community. Without change, we can expect hate speech and radicalization to lead to violence, as they often do. The letter stated these concerns about X.

The correspondence contained multiple requests for action, such as urging companies to sever ties with Musk’s multiple ventures, including Tesla and SpaceX. It also called for major advertisers to refrain from promoting on X and for Google and Apple to remove the app from their respective stores.

The letter stated that Elon Musk has demonstrated a firm stance in not backing down from the harm he causes to Jewish, minority, and vulnerable communities. Despite direct appeals from organizations like the ADL, they have been unsuccessful in persuading him to change his behavior. It is crucial to apply external pressure that affects him in order to have any impact. Failure to do so will result in the continued growth of extremism and antisemitism, which not only jeopardize Jews but also pose a threat to a free society and all those impacted by the dangerous beliefs linked to antisemitism.

CBS News contacted X for a response and received an automated message stating: “Currently occupied, please try again later.” In July, Musk stated that press and media requests would receive these messages in a continuous cycle of unhelpful responses. This is different from the previous automatic reply, which would acknowledge the inquiries but provide no real answer.poop emoji.
