Lorne Michaels, the mastermind behind “Saturday Night Live,” has considered the possibilities of his eventual departure from the show. While acknowledging the abundance of talented individuals to potentially take his place, Michaels specifically mentioned Tina Fey as a potential successor.
The 79-year-old producer stated to Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner on the Emmy Awards red carpet on Jan 15 that he has considered the event. He mentioned that they will be hosting a 50th anniversary show in February of 2025 and he will be present for it. After that, they will make decisions about future plans.
According to Turner, there has been speculation that Tina Fey could lead the show. Michaels also mentioned the possibility of Fey taking on the role, but acknowledged that there are other qualified individuals currently involved as well.
He expressed that Tina is exceptional and excels in all she does. She holds a significant place in his life.
